“The SchoolClub programme has been brilliant for our daughter. It fits perfectly around the school day, and she’s grown so much in confidence since starting”

A proud parent

Our before and after-school martial arts clubs are designed to give your child the best possible start to martial arts in a fun and familiar environment, surrounded by schoolmates. Whether they’re looking to grow in confidence, improve their self-discipline and focus, or learn how to defend themselves – it’s the perfect place to start.

Upon joining, your child will go straight into our Foundation Curriculum – learning core techniques, building confidence through structured activities, and applying their skills in friendly competitions and engaging challenges.

Every class is action-packed, guided by clear learning objectives, and designed to have real-life impact – bringing out their best in the classroom, at home, and beyond.

What Will Your Child’s First Class Look Like?

Their first class is all about building confidence and ensuring they feel comfortable and excited for the journey ahead.

After being greeted with a warm smile and introduced to their new classmates, they’ll be guided through the following sections of the class.

When you pick them up at the end of the day, they’ll have a brand-new White belt, a big smile, and some memories for life…

A Breakthrough Experience

They’ll be invited to take on their first challenge as a martial artist by breaking a child-safe board. Once they’ve broken the board and received a generous round of applause, they’ll be awarded their White Belt and taught how to tie it for the first time. It’s a true breakthrough experience that builds instant confidence and sets the tone for the Journey ahead!

After the impactful start, we’ll move into our standard class structure: preparation, learning, games and rewards.

Preparation

Each session begins with guided stretching and a short moment of meditation to help prepare both the body and mind for the class ahead. Students then line up in organised rows to create a calm and focused learning environment.

Learning

The majority of the class is dedicated to learning the technical elements of TKD. Students are encouraged to approach each challenge with focus and discipline while working towards clear goals and expectations.

Games

Once the learning objectives of the class have been met, we incorporate structured, high-energy games that allow students to have fun and practice good sportsmanship whilst consolidating their learning.

Rewards

At the end of class, tags are awarded to recognise hard work and progress. Throughout the term, students have the opportunity to earn five colour tags for skill development, as well as special reward tags for exceptional behaviour.

What Will Their First Term Look Like?

They’ve got a lot to look forward to!

Throughout the term, your child will take on new challenges each week as they learn the core technical elements of TKD, develop a basic self-defence skill set, and work towards their next belt. Our learning objectives extend beyond martial arts skills as students are encouraged to show the Blackbelt Attitude in each class:

  • Confidence to believe in themselves
  • Focus to apply themselves
  • Discipline to stay committed
  • Resilience to overcome challenge

Each class, your child will continue to build their skills and confidence as they work towards their end-of-term grading – a proud moment where they’ll have the opportunity to earn their next belt.

Techniques

They’ll spend the start of term learning and practising the core technical elements of TKD: striking, blocking, and kicking. At this stage, the focus isn’t on achieving perfection but rather on developing a foundation to build upon. Progress is celebrated at every stage, and students are encouraged to show the confidence to take on new challenges.

Board breaking

Your child will then have the opportunity to test what they’ve learned using child-safe breaking boards. With five different difficulty levels available, each challenge is carefully matched to their ability, supporting steady progress while ensuring safety. Successfully breaking a board becomes a powerful moment of achievement, reinforcing confidence through clear and tangible progress.

Self-defence

After they’ve tested their techniques against boards, they’ll begin applying these skills to practical situations through self-defence related activities and challenges. Through guided practice, they’ll develop key skill such as distance management, effective blocking, and proper footwork to form a solid foundation in self-defence.

Grading

At the end of term, they’ll have the chance to earn their next belt through an official grading. In the two weeks leading up to grading, classes include special preparation to ensure they’re confident and ready to succeed. Gradings are a moment of well-earned pride, where students demonstrate everything they’ve learnt and receive their next belt as recognition of their hard work and progress.
